Read About

It is a compilation of Filipino Poetry depicting real-life and sensational situations affecting Filipino lives. These were written for the sole purpose of waking up the ideals and shaking the nerves of Filipinos inside and outside the Philippines. Batu-bato sa Langit is a prominent Filipino proverb, which means that whoever is affected by the contents of these poetries may react against it. But the writers placed these facts with symbolism and passion to deliver the realities of today.

"Lugaw Para sa Bata" is a small project from Team Kabsat in Pangasinan who aimed to give Lugaw as breakfast to few children in the province of Pangasinan in the Philippines. United with the heart of service and Filipino thoughtfulness, Team Kabsat decided to serve Lugaw to children ages 4 to 12 on selected areas to atleast minimize hungerproblem especially to small children. As of the moment, Team Kabsat shall feed only 100 children every month as that number is, as of the moment, the possible count that they can serve. However, Team Kabsat is looking forward that the Lugaw Project shall not only serve 100 children every month but more children are expected to be reached with this small project. read more

German-Filipino Pre-Wedding Preparations
Shanaz Mina, November 2008, Philippines

I decided to marry my German boyfriend who was at the time of wedding preparations, he was in Germany while I was in the Philippines. The wedding was planned to take place in the Philippines.

It was not the wedding cake nor the wedding invitation that was unthinkable. The more difficult part are the documents involved. My German boyfriend can speak English but I cannot speak his German language. The same problem can be related to the pre-wedding needed documents because Philippine documents must be translated by an official translator in Germany to make it official in Germany and vice-versa in the Philippines. We all know that Philippine authorities can speak, read, and write English. But what about my boyfriend's official documents? His documents were all written in German and my documents were all written in English.

Since we decided to marry in the Philippines, here are the things which one Filipino citizen must have before marrying her/his German partner. The information below are only based on my experiences. Although these are general requirements, there could be other conditions provided by law or by the embassy based on your actual conditions.

1. Birth Certificate on secpa (security paper) issued by the National Statistics Office
2. Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) on secpa issued by the National Statistics Office
(see related article, Legal Capacity to Marry)
3. Marriage License

For my German partner, he has to produce the same papers from his country. Here are the papers, which he had produced as part of our pre-wedding preparation:

1. Der Personalausweis
2. Die Geburtsurkunde
2. Der Auszug dem Standbuch der Eltern
3. Die Aufenthaltsbescheinigung
4. Das Ehefähigkeitszeugnis

Along with the above documents, he also needs a copy of the following documents from me:

1. Birth Certificate
2. Certificate of No Marriage
3. Barangay Clearance
4. Personal Identification Card
