160 Pupils served with Lugaw in Infanta, Pangasinan

As the monthly Lugaw Feeding Project of www.pinoysignal.com moves on, some 160 pupils were fed at Nayom Elementary School, Brgy. Nayom, Infanta, Pangasinan. Headed by Ma. Joesa Torres, the normally targetted monthly headcount of 100 children was outnumbered this June. This is because of the collective cooperation of her colleagues in the Local Government Unit, namely, Donald Minimo, Angeline Alejos, Cheryl Montano, Chona Simeon, and Rodolfo Mujer, Jr. with the special participation of Team Mariposa. The volunteers for the project rose early from bed to prepare the cooking of the lugaw for 160 children and carrying this food to children who were patiently waiting at Nayom Elementary School.

In the said school, numerous children, some accompanied by their parents, were patiently guided through the leadership of their teacher, Miss Normita Meulio, participated by her co-teachers, namely, Sonia Barnachia, Rosalia Lomboy, Norma Eslao, and Jane Tolentino. Miss Muelio's impressive commitment to the pupils of Nayom is reflected on the pupils' attitude. Torres described the pupils as "smart, disciplined, and good followers. They fall in line to fetch their own lugaw, smilingly eat their food, and happily sharing their laughters to everyone, " which is obviously an inspiration to every teacher involved for a noble cause. It was Miss Meulio who explained to the pupils that "everyday prayer provides an everyday blessing." She added that the feeding project is an act of thankfulness to God's goodness to different people, and that this goodness is being returned to God by feeding children. "As these children were encouraged to pray everyday, they develop a sense of good values at an early age, which will give them a good foundation on a better outlook in life," the teachers said.

For volunteers of the feeding project, the feeding service is already embedded in their hearts but to do a feeding project in their own town where they grew up and were raised has something to do with their respective reflections of their own childhood. PinoySignal is impressed with the enthusiasm and volunteerism of these young fellows as they would set more good examples not only to the youth but also to the growing children in their town, who deserved to be kindled and overseen.

As donors continue to believe in this small feeding project, PinoySignal likewise continues to support the same endeavor. As more volunteers understand the essence of this project, more children are expected to be reached on different barangays, towns, and provinces in the Philippines.
