Application for Family Reunion Visa
Shanaz Well, March 2009
If you think you are ready to apply for a Family Reunion Visa, you have to set an appointment with the German embassy. Please see article on Setting an Appointment at the German Embassy.
After having an appointment, go to this address:
25/F Tower 2, RCBC Plaza
6819 Ayala Ave.
Makati City, Metro Manila
In the reception area, officials will check your appointment reference number and submit a valid identification card, which they will keep while you are making your transactions at the German Embassy. Be sure to fall in line being a disciplined applicant whenever the reception is crowded. Some people overtake sometimes. Normally, transaction is fast at the receiving area. You need to fill up on their log book your fullname, address, purpose of coming to the embassy, date and time of arrival, and signature. After your transaction, you have to go back to this area to claim back your deposited ID and write the time you left the premises.
The embassy is full of controls and security checks. If you walk in the building, as far as I can remember, there are 4 security checks until you reach the main office where you start your transaction. That is all right. You have nothing to fear if you follow instructions. If you will be accompanied by another person, she or he has to wait at the waiting area. Only persons with appointments are allowed to go inside the embassy premises. Just in case you went with car, there are parking areas at the basement. Security check is done again before going on the basement parking. This is a paid parking space up to more than 5 lower parking basements. Security check is done before you enter the parking area itself and before the elevator heading to the reception area of the embassy. These are additional security checks when you parked your car in the basement. If you went with a driver, there is a driver's lodge in every parking basement. This lodge contains chairs and a television, where the drivers can watch while waiting for somebody. Strictly no smoking inside the building premises. Smoking area is found on the ground floor, where the waiting area for visitors are. That is an open air waiting area with seats.
When you reached the 25th floor of the building, a security personnel will check your appointment reference number again. There are two turns, left and right. Right is where you will undergo your interview for your visa application while on the left, another checking is to be made. Go first to the left. Everything you are carrying --- bags, money, wallet, all inside your pocket shall be placed in one container while you, as applicant, shall pass through the security machine since guns and other dangerous stuffs are not allowed to bring inside the interview section. Afterwhich, you will again be checked (sometimes with both arms raised upwards) to be sure that there are no weapons attached to your body. Now you are ready to submit your application form on the window directed to you. They will see if you really made an appointment before you proceed to the interview section. You will only give them the filled-up applications form with picture and reference number given by the call center agent when you did your appointment via their call center. They will give you which window number you are assigned for interview, your number for you to know when is your turn, and now you are ready to go to the right portion where the interview section is located.
Before you enter the interview premises, two security persons will check your number again. If you have a mobile phone with you, you should deposit to them through their safety deposit box, give you the key, you can go in, sit nearest to the window you are assigned to, and wait for your turn.
Another rule of the thumb, bring all documents with you even they were not included in the list of requirements, they "might" be needed. Make a maximum five clear copies of these documents if possible, you will not know how many copies they need from you in additional later on. Just in case the need arises, there is a photocopy section in the building. From the ground floor, take a different elevator going to the other tower. You are in Tower 2 if you are in the direction to the German embassy. Photocopy section is at the 4th floor of Tower 1.
